Warning issued to alleged homicide suspects by Yonkers


A reward was offered for information leading to the arrest of a murder suspect in Westchester.

Police are attempting to track down 26-year-old Jerome Wilson, who allegedly deliberately murdered 24-year-old Chazz Mitchell, outside an apartment building in Yonkers on Oak Street on Tuesday, August 25.

In response, the Yonkers Police Department issued a $ 5,000 reward for information leading to Wilson's arrest.

According to the police, Wilson is considered armed and dangerous. He has ties to Yonkers, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, and Poughkeepsie.

Officers from the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to Saint Joseph & # 39; s Medical Center just after 4 p.m. on August 25th, where there was a report of a man who was shot in the stomach.

The man – later identified as Mitchell, 24, stopped responding after being rushed to the hospital by a third party and later died of the gunshot wound.

Police said Mitchell was with a group of people when he was approached by Wilson. A brief argument escalated into violence. At this point, Wilson reportedly took out a pistol and fired at least one shot at Mitchell, who hit him before he escaped.

Further investigation revealed that Mitchell and the suspect were familiar and the incident was not a random occurrence.
