Yonkers has the most confirmed coronavirus cases out of any Westchester County city, according to data released by the county on Sunday afternoon.

With more than 1,250 cases, the fourth largest city in the state makes up a good deal of cases in the county, according to those figures.

New Rochelle, the first municipality in New York to face a coronavirus cluster, has 609 positive cases. Mount Vernon has more than 540. It was on March 3 that Westchester recorded its first confirmed case.

As of Sunday afternoon, COVID-19 has infected more than 122,000 and killed 4,159 New Yorkers. The number of deaths increased by 594 in one day.

But Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that the increase was slightly less than Saturday and hospitalizations were also down, giving a glimmer of hope that New York may soon hit its apex of cases and deaths.

“The number of deaths over the past few days has been dropping for the first time,” he said. “What is the significance of that? It’s too early to tell.”

On Saturday, state officials said that the number of coronavirus-related deaths in the county skyrocketed to 197. The number of deaths released by the county on Friday was 71.

“This number shocked me,” Westchester County Executive George Latimer said.

Latimer said he is directing that flags at all county facilities be flown at half-staff in honor of county residents who have died from the coronavirus.

“These are not just numbers on a growing chart, these are our neighbors,” Latimer said in a statement. “As we continue to show strength and resilience as we fight this virus, we must remember the importance of grieving the ones we have lost. My condolences go out to the families and friends of those who have left us too soon.”
