Yonker's man caught for crimes DWI after separate crashes, state police say

A Westchester man was arrested for a DWI crime after being hit and crashed on I-287.

Florencio Diaz, 39, from Yonkers was arrested on Saturday, January 9, after New York state police responded to a report of an accident in the village of Elmsford, state police said.

A preliminary investigation found that Diaz reportedly wiped a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Diaz continued west and left the passageway, where he hit a fence on Nepperham Avenue in the village of Elmsford.

No injuries were reported as a result of the accidents.

After an interview with Diaz, it was found that he was drunk. He was taken into custody, transported and processed in SP Tarrytown, where he refused to provide a breath sample.

Additionally, Diaz has a previous DWI conviction for the past 10 years and is required to operate a vehicle with an ignition lock.

As a result, he was charged with the DWI crime and operated a vehicle without a locking device.

Diaz was handed over to a sober third party and published on tickets.
