YONKERS — A 61-year-old city man has been charged with murder for allegedly shooting his sister in the neck on Friday evening outside an Oakland Avenue home.
Jeffrey Hirschorn, who was charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, was held overnight and is expected to be arraigned later today, the police said.
The police said the victim was his sister Leslie Hirschorn, 54.

The two aging children lived together with their mother at the Oakland Avenue residence, the police said. They apparently got into a dispute over property. A struggle ensued, the police said, and Jeffrey Hirschorn allegedly pointed the gun at his sister and fired once.
Jeffrey Hirschorn was taken into custody without incident. The police said they recovered an illegally possessed 38-caliber revolver.
The police responded at about 6:19 p.m. Friday and said they found the victim down on the home’s front lawn. Detectives from the Major Case Squad and Crime Scene Unit interviewed subjects and witnesses, canvassed for surveillance video, and processed forensic and ballistic evidence.
Several witnesses were interviewed and the suspect provided a statement to investigators, according to the police.
The elderly mother was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
The investigation is ongoing.
The police department said it offers its condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
