A large three story house in Westchester was destroyed by an early morning fire due to poor water pressure conditions.
The fire occurred at 12:58 pm on Sunday, February 28th, when the Yonkers Fire Department responded to a fire call to the house on Odell Ave. 423 in Yonkers responded.
The two-alarm fire was believed to have started in the garage and, with residents absent, it wasn't noticed until the entire first floor was completely in flames, said Joseph Citrone, assistant director of Yonkers FD.
The first incoming fire brigade units could not enter the house due to the conditions.
Poor water pressure in the area contributed to problems extinguishing the fire, said Lemon.
Three separate companies have been hired to search the neighborhood for flying debris that could possibly have started other fires.
Seventeen companies and 74 firefighters worked four hours to contain the fire that ultimately destroyed the home.
Three firefighters went to the hospital with minor injuries.
