Yonkers Police Department investigators responded to the premier fashion clothing store on New Main Street around 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday April 20th where there was a report of a stinging incident.
Upon arrival, officers found the shopkeeper, 47-year-old Ruben Martinez-Campos from Yonkers, who suffered multiple stab wounds and was being treated by first responders.
Martinez-Campos was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Yonkers Police Det. Dean Politopoulos said the preliminary investigation revealed the suspect was involved in an altercation with a local taxi driver on New Main Street before entering the premier fashion clothing store and allegedly attempting to steal an item of clothing.
It is believed that the suspect was then approached by Martinez-Campos, who tried to prevent him from leading into an off-business argument that resulted in the owner being stabbed multiple times before the suspect walked out of the office Scene fled.
